David Salomon proposed to his long-term girlfriend, Jennifer
Tuason, by making a comic book telling the story of how they met and all of
the memorable dates they’ve been on over the years. David knew that he needed
the perfect idea when deciding to propose;
Jennifer is a special woman, and she deserves a special proposal. The
idea came from one of their first dates, when he introduced her to her first
comic book. She fell in love with comic
books that day and similarly, he fell in love with her. David got together with some of his artistic
and designer friends who would illustrate the pages while he wrote all of the
text. For the actual proposal, David
arranged it so that he got her for Secret Santa, and she opened the present in
front of all of their friends. She read
the book until she got to the end where the actual proposal was, and she said
yes! The comic book has a lot of blank
pages at the back, which they plan on using as the guest book at the wedding,
and for future adventures of David and Jennifer.
This is a perfect example of the thought and consideration
that goes into some wedding proposals.
Many people consider the day that they propose/are proposed to be the
most memorable day of their lives, so that means it has to be good, right? David definitely thought so. In an interview he did with Romance Never Dies, he admitted that he
spent months concocting the perfect plan, tossing around other ideas including
a song and dance at a restaurant. He
knew that he wanted the proposal to be related to something they had in common,
and reminded them of why they were together.
David’s proposal completely supports the main purpose of this blog: to
show proposals as an art form, because what is art but a carefully planned,
strategically displayed, meaningful form of expression?

Animated Video Game Proposal inside the game Borderlands
Year: 2011
When Ben and Tora began dating,
one of the first things they learned about each other was that they were both
obsessed with the game Borderlands. Ben
knew from the moment he met her that she was the girl for him, and knew the
proposal he chose had to be something special that exemplified the strength of
their relationship. That is why he went
straight to Gearbox, the creator of Borderland, for some help. They excitedly agreed and spent a week
creating the special animations featured in the video above. Ben gathered all of their closest friends and
family together to make the moment even more special and memorable. He had one of his best friends film the
proposal so that they could remember it forever. I mean, of course they’ll want to because Tora
loved the proposal and said yes immediately!
This was a very personal and
special wedding proposal. You can see
that the groom put a lot of thought into how he wanted to pop the special
question. This is yet another example of
how some people feel that a proposal should be formulated to fit the interests
of the couple, rather than being just a generic romantic gesture. This proposal combines comedy, entertainment,
and romance as Tora’s sense of humor, special interests, and love for Ben were
all considered. It is proposals like
these that demonstrate how this truly can be an art form, with all of the
consideration, planning, thought, and help that went into this piece.
